Elizabeth Ward - Consultant
Liz deals with the specialist requirements of businesses for Intellectual Property and Information Technology legal advice. Liz previously headed the Intellectual Property Department of one of the larger Leeds Law firms.
Having an honours degree in Genetics and Cell Biology, she worked in the pharmaceutical industry before re-training as a solicitor. She has an in-depth knowledge of the law relating to patents, trade marks, copyright, design rights and confidential information, and undertakes both contentious and non contentious work.
Liz's work includes licensing software, know-how, technology and brands in order to produce income streams for businesses. Her contentious work includes disputes over ownership in technology, licensing disputes and related matters including injunctive relief. Clients appreciate the commercial, positive approach Liz brings to her clients' issues and in particular her practical nature.
Liz is a member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (CIPA), the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) and chairs the North East section of the Licensing Executives Society (LES). She regularly lectures on all matters related to IP law. Liz has been recommended by the Legal 500 for the past 5 years for her IP/IT expertise and received a plaudit in the 2006 edition, which praised her for her "unbeatable, first-class advice".
In her spare time Liz enjoys good food, wine, travelling, cycling and the odd spot of gardening!
